TEAR TWO WAYS 02

£950.00

‘Tear Two Ways 02’ is a part of a series of work ‘THE CRUMBLING VISTA OF WHAT WAS ONCE A REAL LANDSCAPE’. It is an expression of the places I have long missed since our own suspension of movements due to the pandemic.

Once upon a time, there was a real landscape. It was tangible. A building in which I can walk into, a tree lined hill which I could walk up, and scent I can smell from the burning spiral incense that hangs from temples. When I left this landscape, it was perfectly emblazoned in my mind's eye like a photograph.

Yet it has been years since I have been back there and unlike a photograph, suspending all in its frame, my mind's eye does not allow this kind or immortality. This landscape began to crumple. With all my might, I began to rebuild this landscape and make it physical again. To make it real again.

This work is a physical representation of the crumpling landscape. Yet it is not a representation of reality because I know, these building will be maintained, incense will be replaced and tree lined hills remained. It is the representation of a broken heart, of longing, of missing this landscape which seems to be crumpling at my fingertips. It is the consequence of time on my heart.
